Walter C. Willett

Walter C. Willett is Professor of Epidemiology and Nutrition at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health and one of the world’s most cited nutrition researchers. He is a principal architect of the food frequency questionnaire methodology used in the nurses-health-study and health-professionals-follow-up-study, and has led or co-led much of the landmark prospective research linking diet to chronic disease outcomes over 30+ years.

  • Developed and validated the Harvard food frequency questionnaire used in NHS and HPFS
  • Co-created the Alternative Healthy Eating Index (AHEI)
